| Sutton Coldfield Movie Makers was founded as The Vesey Amateur Cine Society in 1937 by a group of film makers who wanted to benefit from sharing ideas and enthusiasm. The same is still true today, though video is now used to produce the moving image - still loosely referred to as “films”! With new technical advances, a wide range of creative technology is now available for the amateur, including digital video and DVDs,and we see this reflected in the videos members and others make. Not all members have equipment, or even make films. Some enjoy seeing what others can do and will help in any way they can. We have “makers”,“watchers”, and “boffins” in the club. (The latter enjoy the technicalities of the art.) Members have a wide range of abilities and all of us realise that we were all beginners once. With the help and encouragement available, new members soon learn to create more satisfying productions, and even compete in club and outside competitions. ABOUT THE MEETINGS Meetings are held on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month between September and May at Wylde Green Community Hall. We usually start at 7-45pm for 8. Evenings vary from talks on “how to do it”, to competitions to see how well it was done. Members' video evenings, which are for showing films for enjoyment rather than competition, often prove to be the most popular and enjoyable events. The chance to see internationally award-winning films and visits to and from other clubs, keep us in touch with the wider film-making movement. | IF YOU HAVE A CAMCORDER AND FANCY DOING A LITTLE MORE WITH IT,WHY NOT COME ALONG AND MEET US? YOU MIGHT ENJOY IT AND WE ALWAYS NEED NEW IDEAS. | |||||
